The reality of being alone, carefree, healing, healthy is not too common……………….as we grow old?
But why?? As I opened my private office practice, more than a decade ago, I very soon realized
……………….that for many seniors, I was their family! I enjoyed speaking with them and helping them
as much as they did visiting with us. Keeping health care needs in check and working on acute issues and
preventing hospitalizations for chronic conditions was the norm for me and my staff.

In the context of this care, I developed an innate sense of gratitude for the learning the knowledge and
the understanding that I would have had never experiences If I was not doing it this way!

What makes a private practice important to a senior vs the ranches out in the open! As health care and
technology swing the batons aboard a tower seeking to cover and ensnare all with their ideas of a net
and worth, we all cringe back to know why, what, where, which, whom and when? And for us like
me………….. It is not only a battle for survival (don’t mistake me- we have abundant happiness, joys,
love in what we do) from the wizards, but also from our peers who think us to be different, unaligned
with today’s’ philosophy and the crazy ones to challenge the status quo!

This is my story! As my father once said to me when he was alive, you are too good and true, you will
make more frenemies than friends.

To go back to our basic point…………. The issues that crop now are not solely concerning seniors, adults
or children , it is the way medicine is practiced and the way the practitioners behave in order to be not
unique or interesting but to fear the unknown reality and hence birds of one feather flock together!

So my wisdom of growing old, educated, blessed in a solo practice arena…………….. abruptly ended by
a mixed belief, injustice for challenging the status quo and for finding out the politics of governmental
agencies and speaking up as a woman in the 21 st century……………………I was banned for being Bossy
by the medical board of California!

I do hope to reach out to all women of this world……………..nothing is lost, unless you give up!

I have a renewed interest that continues despite my struggles and to all the people who left me,
abandoned me, threatened me, fear me, are ashamed of me, feel belittled to join hands with
me………………………I am not alone nor will be a lone voice! History has seen many women before me
and will continue to do so ………….

So mayors, medical board professionals, fellow physicians, CEO’s, attorneys, friends, community, fellow
health care professionals, I call upon you today to be unified is to being dignified! For no achievement is
greater than the power of unity!

To see the change, be the change is a quote I quote today, as it is very near and dear to my heart since I
have been fighting this battle for a decade now!

Thank you to all my patients, seniors, juniors, adults, middle aged, you inspire me to continue, you
inspire me to dream and you inspire me to never give up! There is a lot in me, to give to this world as I
have reinvented myself and Healthaiminc in a new direction!

Till then……………..Goodbyes, miss you all! From the Desk of Purnima Sreenivasan, #Healthaiminc
